Thrill Zone with Akshay Dogra!

Handsome hunk Akshay Dogra, who was recently seen in Colors Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal, shares his adventurous experiences on our Thrill Zone column this week.
What is adventure according to you?
Adventure is all about experiencing something which you haven't experienced before. I would love to experience new places which I haven't explored before. Experiencing the unknown is adventure for me.
Share your most adventurous day.
I remember a day when I was in Delhi and it was my friend's birthday. We met in the morning and we walked through the entire city and came back home at night. That was really a very long walk for both of us. There's another day which I remember is the time when I was living in a hostel. We used to sneak into the girls room of the girls hostel. One day the security guard caught us and my friends jumped off and ran away. I was caught so I cooked up a story and elaborated it by saying, if I have done something wrong then I will jump off from here and die! I knew that there was a swimming pool down the floors so I wont get hurt even if I jumped off from there but I pretended like I would and my principal asked me not to repeat such acts in future and released me. There have been lots of such adventurous days in my life. Driving through Mumbai roads is also an adventure for me.
Your favorite adventure?
Exploring new places and experiencing the new culture of that place. I really love walking so I also love walking through the hilly areas in any of the hill stations and go for trekking trips.
One thrilling adventure on your wish list?
I would love to go for sky diving. Exploring new culture excites me more than sky diving. It will give you one experience after another.
Who would you want to take for a thrilling activity from the industry?
I would love to take Barun Sobti, Sanaya Irani, Mohit Sehgal, Daljeet Bhanot, Shaleen Bhanot,Karan Goddwani, Abhaas Mehta, Ravi Dubey, Sargun Mehta, Waseem Mushtaq and his wife Ayesha, Neil Bhatt, Manish Nawani along with my wife. If I would have to go on an adventure, then I will take all these people along with me. Saare ke saare ek se badhkar ek namoone hain so dealing with each other will be a different kind of adventure for all of us.

Chhanchhan to go Off Air. Anuj has mixed feelings!

Telly show, 'Chhanchhan', which launched in March this year amid huge fanfare, will end in the first week of September, owing to low TVTs. The show features Sanaya Irani and Anuj Sachdeva, who replaced debutant Farhan Khan— the original male lead, a month ago.

The cast is naturally upset with the development. A source close to Anuj says, "The shoot will end on September 6 and that's when Anuj's Punjabi film will also release. The last episode will air on September 12. Anuj has mixed feelings, as while on one hand, he is excited about the release of his film, he is also upset that his show is ending."

I bought three cars at one time: Barun Sobti

It’s a tough fight against the original

T6.jpg
Avinash Sachdev, who won many hearts as the sweet and simple Dev from Chhoti Bahu, is now making a comeback as the bad boy Shlok in the sequel to Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. The return, however, hasn’t received a warm welcome exactly, with fans of the original show hurling severe criticism at him.
Avinash is well aware of the negative reactions. He says, “When Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was on air, I was busy with Chhoti Bahu. So I didn’t have the time to watch the show but I was always aware of its popularity. The other day I checked the fan reactions to our promo and there were 80,000 views and around 2,000 dislikes. It did take me by surprise at first even though I knew that fans are extremely attached to the original cast. But all I can say is that my role is different from what I have heard Barun Sobti played in the original.”
While fans are demanding that the show title be changed, Avinash says that the show was destined to be called Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Baar Phir and feels that the title suits perfectly. He says, “When I started shooting for the show in January, it was called something else. Then in April we were given the same set that was used for the original. As the story went forward, the team and channel realised that this show would be a perfect sequel to the original.”
Speaking about his character Shlok Agnihotri, Avinash says that this is the kind of role that he dreamt of playing since the time he entered the industry. “My previous roles have given me this good boy image but I always wanted to play the bad guy. Shlok is rude, dominating and a male chauvinist. So he is both the hero and villain of the show.” But playing bad hasn’t come easy to the actor. “Either my jaw begins to hurt hurting or I end up with a headache as I have to hold Shlok’s bad boy expressions for hours together,” Avinash says.
Barun quit the show to pursue a career in Bollywood leading to the show going off air. Avinash, however, insists that he would never go back on his commitment. “Tomorrow, if I am offered a film I won’t leave my shows midway. I respect my work and profession enough to not do such a thing.” While Avinash says that he tries to live his roles in real life, there are times when he needs a break to get away from it all. “When I am not shooting, I am mostly in my make-up room. But when I need a break I manage to hide myself in such a way that even the assistant directors cannot find me,” he says with a laugh. Avinash continues, “If I manage to get a longer break, I like driving to Lonavala with my friends and when they are busy, I don’t mind travelling alone.”
Avinash, who continues to be on the receiving end of brickbats, says that he has always been immune to negativity. He says, “I can neither take stress not can I fight with anyone. People who know me are aware that whenever there is a fight or a negative situation, I just prefer to back off from the situation. I totally believe in a live-and-let-live policy.”
The actor has completed eight years in the industry and says that the journey has been a fruitful one. “When I came to Mumbai eight years ago, I never expected to be this successful. For shows I have been to South Africa six times, West Indies three times and so many other countries. The affection that people have showered on me is amazing. I never expected people in West Indies to watch Hindi television shows.”
The actor has been dating his Chhoti Bahu co-star Rubina Dilaik for a long time now but he says that there are no immediate plans of joining hands for one more show anytime soon. Both the actors have been open about their relationship in the past, so it was surprising to see Avinash not too keen to talk about it now. When probed about his marriage plans, he said, “I would rather not discuss my personal life.” So be it then!

Barun Sobti, Sanaya Irani fans slam IPKKND — Ek Baar Phir

Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani’s crackling chemistry made Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon immensely popular. But after Barun quit the show, the channel had to end it as the fans only wanted to see Barun in the lead. Now, news is that the show will be back on the tube with a brand new season, cast and story. This second edition, called Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon — Ek Baar Phir plans on recreating the magic of the orginial show and bring to fans, a riveting love story. However, this move hasn’t gone down too well with the fans

Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani as Arnav and Khushi!

of the original show. They have taken to social networking websites, protesting against the title being, cashed in on, (read tweets below).

A source says, “The working title of the show was Astha earlier, and the story was that of a romantic comedy like IPKKND. Perhaps with requests from a few fans and reports of the IPKKND season 2 being in the pipeline, prompted the channel to change the name.”  The new show will star Shrenu Parikh and Avinash Sachdev.
In a statement made by the channel, Barun said, “IPKKND was one show that was loved by one and all, I was lucky to be a part of it. I have always believed that its story was its strength. It'll be interesting to see the second season. I hope it does well. I wish all the luck to the channel and the production house.”

@aakanksha_joshi: they want 2 cash in on the brand name IPKKND but this is not tolerated by fans! (sic)
@Mahezabeen: Bakwaas Idea! #IPKKND is NOT #IPKKND without the original cast! #EpicFail(sic)
@Aquagal001: IPKKND is not IPKKND without Arnav-Khushi & without Barun-Sanaya. New pairs shall create their chemistry in a new show than doing it on the name of IPKKND. It hurts the feelings of fans. (sic)
@Vixen_Cat: I would be interested HAD SaRun been in it. NOT if the cast has changed & title is being cashed in on. (sic)
@pari_tweets: Change the name of the show, we loved ipkknd for barun & sanaya, No SARUN No IPKKND! didn't we prove it b4. we have fought for our show once and will do it again! hope u saw the dislikes (read HATES) the promo got on Youtube and still counting! (sic)

Barun Sobti set to romance Suzanna Mukherjee in Kolkata

The newcomer's innocent smile prompted director Mitali Ghoshal to cast her opposite the TV heartthrob

The cat is out of the bag. BarunSobti fans, who have long been speculating who their fave hero would romance on the big screen, can now rest their case. Newcomer SuzannaMukherjee has bagged the role in MitaliGhoshal's 22 Yards. The girl will start shooting from August 20 in Kolkata.

"She plays a Bengali girl, Shonali, who is a sports
journalist. Though I auditioned a lot of girls, what struck me about
Suzanna was her innocent smile," said Mitali.

Suzanna was earlier part of Bolly flick TutiyaDil and her projects on the small screen include RoadiesRoomie and Emotional Atyachaar. "Till the second round of the auditions, I didn't know about Barun. After hearing about him, I looked up the net and saw episodes ofIssPyaarKoKyaNaamDoon? He came across as very good-looking. Also, everybody in my family watches TV and knew who he was. I metBarun for a few workshops in Mumbai and liked his work. As a person, he is very simple. Despite being so popular, he isn't fussy," she said.

Though born to a Bengali father and a Ukrainian mother, Suzanna is nervous about playing a Bengali girl. "The character is very different from what I am in real life," said Suzanna.

Lovebirds Rubina Dilaik and Avinash Sachdeva seem to be charting the same course professionally as well.

He will be paired with Shrenu Parikh, last seen inByaah Hamaari Bahoo Ka. The first season of the show, featuring Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani, had become quite popular along with the lead pair. But after Barun quit, it ended immediately.

Barun Sobti, popularly known as Arnav, said, "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was one show that was loved by one and all, I was lucky to be a part of the show and have very fond memories of the year and a half that I shot for it. Shaleen-Daljeet expecting their first child

Actress Daljeet Kaur has been missing from the tube for a while now. Wonder why? The actress, who tied the knot with Shaleen Bhanot (her co-actor in Kulvaddhu) on December 9, 2009, is expecting their first child. The baby is due the same month this year.

Says Daljeet, "I couldn't have asked for a better timing; everyone's really excited. We have been doing up our house and are shopping for babies' items in blue and pink. While Shaleen wants a girl, I wish to have a son. But the bottomline is, we are both praying for a healthy baby."

The actress says she is in no hurry to return to acting. "I had almost signed up for a show, but things didn't materialise and, the next month, I conceived. Maybe, that was God's intervention. I want to enjoy motherhood and there is no hurry to return to acting," says she.
