Cast of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon join together for a play to be premiered in Dubai

What if ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?’ the popular Star Plus show has ended? The euphoria and friendliness amongst the cast members of the show prevails even today. And a ‘small idea’ that came as a passing thought on the sets of Iss Pyaar, has today borne fruit, and the actors gear up for one big reunion of sorts as they are part of a play to be premiered in Dubai on 14 March 2013.

It so happened that Utkarsha Naik and Akshay Dogra during their usual chit-chat sessions during the shoot of Iss Pyaar Ko… discussed on coming up with a concept for a play and working on it. Months after this discussion happened, both Akshay and Utkarsha gave it a serious thought, and went on to develop a concept. And when they started casting for the show, they took in Deepali Pansare and Pyumori Mehta from the Iss Pyaar Ko unit too.

There was also a thought of casting Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani, but Sanaya excused herself as she was not sure of what she will be doing during the period of rehearsals and play. Barun though decided to not be part of the cast of the play due to date-issues. However, the big news is that Barun will be part of the play as the “narrator”. In the absence of Sanaya, Mrunal Thakur of Khamoshiyaan fame will be presenting the play along with Barun.

The play titled ‘Do Phool Chaar Maali’ will be a comical play directed by Utkarsha Naik’s husband, Manoj Verma. He is also the producer cum creative, and the play will be produced under the banner Ambrosia Theatre Group.

When contacted, Utkarsha Naik confirmed this piece of news and said, “Yes we are premiering our play in Dubai sometime in March (2013). We plan to bring it on in Mumbai too in the near future.”

Akshay Dogra and Deepali Pansare too confirmed their presence in the play.

We tried to contact Barun Sobti but could not reach through to him.

Mrunal Thakur on her part said, “I am still waiting for my confirmations and will be able to talk once I get it.”

Love. One word that has inspired many poets. A word that has moved mountains (almost literally), has been cause of wars and led to path of death and destruction. It is a roller coaster ride on which one experiences emotions from ecstasy to despair. One may crave the emotion while other renounce it but can one say it does not exist? No. Or at least we don’t think so. Some say love makes the world go around. A pragmatic person might denounce it as a romantic notion, befitting movies and novels. But ask a person in love and you might see them nod in agreement.

4 Lions Films have romantics in form of Gul Khan, Nissar Parvez and Gorky. They have epitomized the word romance in every series they have produced. Be it Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi, Humse Hai Life, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year, Arjun – Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek or Qubool Hai. And we are not just talking about romance between the leads namely Raghav (Himansh Kohli) and Sia (Abigail Jain), Suvreen Guggal (Smiriti Kalra) and Yuvraj Singh (Shivin Narang), Maan Singh Khurana (Gurmeet Choudhary) and Geet Handa (Dhrashti Dhami), Arnav Singh Raizada (Barun Sobti) and Khushi Kumari Gupta (Sanaya Irani), Arjun Suryakant Rawte (Shaleen Malhotra) and Roshini (Sameeksha Singh), Asad Ahmed Khan (Karan Singh Grover) and Zoya Farooqui (Surbhi Jyoti. What is love? Is it better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all? Ask Arjun Suryakant Rawte and one may not find a yes. Is love then to possess? Ask Khushi Kumari Gupta if what Shyam felt for her was love and again would you find a yes? Is love then to sacrifice?  Ask Dilshaad and she would not agree with the sacrifice that Raashid has made for her as love or will she? What about Sia? Was it love that made Raghav abandon her? Is love then to let someone go? For Suvreen has let Yuvraj go when he said that he only sees her as a friend. Does loving someone mean that you set them free, if they come back, its yours, else it never was? Is love acceptance? For Maan Singh Khurana accepted Geet with another man’s child. Is love compromise? For Shireen seems to have compromised with her fate as she knows that somewhere Raashid does love Dilshaad as well or a little more than her.

Love is a feeling. A feeling of anticipation, confusion, hesitation, jealousy, rivalry and pain. Can one compartmentalize and say I only want to feel one and not other? Don’t we all go through each and every stage of love. 4 Lions Films have shows us different hues of love. In Geet, it’s Maan’s acceptance. In IPKKND, for Arnav its understanding. In Suvreen,  it’s Suvreen’s strength of love. In HHL, love is second chance for Sia, In Arjun – love is pain. In Qubool Hai, love is denial, for Asad and sacrifice for Raashid. Love and its avatars in all their shows have one common thread. Divinity, blessing, gift.  In each show, they bring you a polychromatic collage, that shows that meaning of love changes for every person; love can define a person but not be the definition of love.

‘EVERY RELATIONSHIP CHANGES EVERY DAY’

Says Barun Sobti as he talks about romance, handling long-distance relationships and how he sulks after fights

Actor Barun Sobti’s rugged look and intense character on Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, won him many female fans, but clearly his heart only beats for his wife, Pashmeen Manchanda. Barun married his childhood sweetheart two years ago, and in this exclusive chat, gives us an insight into their relationship.

How did you first meet your wife?

We were in the ninth standard when we met for the first time and have been together ever since. We were in love, but she wasn’t sure if she wanted to marry me. Later, when she went to Australia after college, and we both realised that we couldn’t imagine our lives without each other.

Tell us about the highs and lows in your relationship.

There haven’t been any lows as such, but like any other couple, we fight on and off. Having a long-distance relationship was the high. It was tough to stick by each other for five years, but we did it!

What quality do you think she doesn’t like in you?

That I presume things at times. She says, ‘How can you understand what I am thinking if I haven’t even told you about it yet?’

How has the relationship, and your love for each other transformed after marriage?

The cute thing about being in a relationship is that you always miss being around your partner. After marriage, the good part is that you’ve got them forever. You have everything you wanted, and there’s nothing more to achieve. As for adjustments, I think every relationship changes every day.

Who is the first one to apologise after a fight?

I don’t think there’s a count, but she’s quite practical and wants to make things better. So she’s the one who always makes the first attempt. Main mooh phulata hoon (I sulk). She needs to convince me to get back to normal (laughs).

What’s the most special thing you have done for her?

I don’t believe in materialistic gifts and grand gestures. Every day is simple yet special, and we keep each other happy. But once I went to Australia to meet her and we ordered food in a restaurant. The dish I ordered wasn't that good so she readily switched her plate with mine. It was such a sweet gesture. Probably it was that moment when I knew, I wanted to marry her.

Cricket @ Kenya

Indian television stars will soon be seen performing and playing at a cricket event in Kenya. While some of the male leads will be seen playing cricket, others may be seen performing with the female leads at various events.

We hear that celebrities like Barun Sobti, Hasan Zaidi, Sehban Azim,Daljeet Bhanot, Madhura Naik, Shilpa Agnihotri and Apoorva Agnihotri will be seen at the event spread over 4 days.

Abhaas Mehta was also supposed to be present too will be unable to go due to his upcoming show on Zee TV.

Apart from Indian TV celebs, local singers and performers from Kenya will also be present.

When contacted Madhura Naik she confirmed saying, "Yes I am performing at the event I will be leaving tonight and will be in Kenya for the next 3-4 days".

We also spoke to Daljeet Bhanot who said, "I am going early in the morning tomorrow for a cricket tournament and I am the brand ambassador of one of the teams. I will be presenting them and cheering them up. I am very excited as it is the first time that I am traveling to that part of continent. I heard a lot of people are traveling tomorrow to Kenya. I am very thrilled to see how it is going to overall. I am also very sad that I won't get time for the Safari in Kenya. I will staying there only for 3 days which will make me very tired".

"It is very sad I am going on Valentines day, so I am not very happy. I had hoped I could go late on the 14th night. However owing to some problems I have to catch an early flight. So the people coming to Kenya better be worth it (Laughs)", concludes the actress.

Jodis from the past seasons of Nach Baliye will be joining the contesting jodis this week. Read on to know what’s in store.

The winners of the past seasons of Nach Baliye, Sachin-Supriya, Tannaz-Bakhtiyar, Hiten-Gauri and Daljit-Shaleen will be joining the season 5 contestants. They will be bringing wistful moments with them on the Nach stage. The jodis can look forward to getting some handy tips from them.

The past contestants will have a lot to share with the present jodis. “It will be a sentimental moment for us. We are looking forward to being with them and interacting with such talented dancers. They all seem better than us,” shares an expectant Hiten. All of them are going through similar emotions of nostalgia and longing. “It will be like being back in the competition. As if all those years never happened because we are getting the same old feelings of nervousness and excitement,” shares a smiling Supriya.

Tannaz-Bakhtiyar and Daljit-Shaleen say that they owe a lot to Nach Baliye and their lives have turned around post the show. With them on the Nach stage, those precious past moments will definitely pulsate on the stage.

Their memories will be tested to know if they will recognise the jodis from their childhood photographs.

Our STAR Plus source informs us, “By now, the judges are well aware of the mannerisms and various expressions of the jodis, and also the anchors. They also know their features well. So, this knowledge will be put to test. The audience will surely have fun watching the judges struggling to identify the jodis from their childhood pictures.”

It will add to the entertainment quotient of the show watching judges trying to pinpoint the jodis correctly. They should be congratulated for their sporting spirit.

CCL UPDATE

Bollywood's glitterati graced the CCL Glam Night. The curtain was raised and the third season of CCL was inaugurated.

Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh and witty Ayushmann Khurana played the ideal hosts of CCL Glam Night. With their perfect comic timing, Riteish and Ayushmann made everyone laugh their hearts out. Riteish didn't miss an opportunity to entertain one and all with his humourous acts. Be it his push-ups with Ayushmann or talking with the Australian cricketer Andrew Symondsin Marathi, Riteish added fun-filled moments to the starry night. He also made the Australian player speak some funny Hindi, which was immensely hilarious. Katrina Kaif unveiled the CCL trophy, and gave a few tips to Riteish and his team to give their best in their upcoming matches. Katrina showed how to say 'howz that' in the 'chikni chameli' style.
